Kanara Wood & Plywood Industries ltd., Jeppu (Estd. 1972)

Up to 1985-86 the company used to purchase timber either from the government or private coupes, but after the government brought an ordinance banning the felling of trees, the company had to resort to importing timber from Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, Burma, Africa, Europe and America.  Teak was imported mainly from Burma and also bought locally.  Currently the Company is dependent mainly on imported timber as materials are scarce in the local market.

The commercial veneer is peeled, sliced or bought from sister concerns.  Solid wood frames are either manufactured at the sawmills or bought from sister concerns.  Wood based resin is bought only from our sister concern, M/s.  Yenepoya Resins & Chemicals.   The raw material is nearly 80% of the cost of plywood.

We have a full-fledged laboratory for testing the raw material and finished products as per the respective Indian Standard specifications. Kenwood is an ISO 9001 compliant for Quality Management Systems.  The company is having ISI Certification for different grades of Plywood, Block boards including decorative and ornamental Plywood. Hence, our products are manufactured to meet the most stringent quality standards. Our commitment to quality starts right from the purchase of round logs, other raw materials and continue till the dispatch of finished products.

Our technical experts handpick round logs of selected hardwood. The logs are procured from renowned sources and also from different parts of the world. With the sheer hard work and dedication of the working team we are able to obtain smooth, defect free finished products with uniform surface, finished edges and free from bores, insects and fungi attack.

The Company has sales depots in Mumbai, Goa, Chennai, Coimbatore, Karoor, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Bangalore.  Major sales are made through these sales outlets at main business centers.   Meanwhile, a small portion of the products is also sold directly from the factory.
